A week passed since my arrival at the “Castle,” as the skyscraper structure which had sprung forth here in this virtual world was known. Even now that I was an AI, my mental capabilities were no more than they had been when I was human. The reason was that I was only the “Personality Unit” of the AI for the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station. Obviously, I didn’t have any control over the nuclear reactors, which were manually operated. The point is, I wouldn’t be able to create these plans that the government asked of me on my own.
The conference room, which Rina had taken me into when I first came here, had been converted into the Student Council Room for Castle Academy. The room’s ceiling had been raised by about ten feet. I suppose that kind of change can be quickly done since this is not a real place. The room now had two levels, vaguely resembling the control centre of a spaceship in some sci-fi TV show. At the centre of the upper back stage, there was a round table, around which the other Student Council members and I sat. The lower level was empty except for some tables, chairs, and PCs with headsets attached.
In total, there were six of us on the student council, with me serving as the president and Rina as the vice president. However, there were only five of us seated, as Rina preferred to stand beside me rather than take a seat with the rest of us. Behind us, there was a large digital screen with a map of Britain and various charts measuring the problems which we were tasked with coming up with solutions to.
The student council members were sub-AIs I personally created to suit my own tastes. They were supposed to be perfectly obedient and loyal to me, but I wouldn’t trust such untested technology blindly. The more human-like they were, the more they were likely to betray me, so maybe I overdid it a bit and ended up with an extreme bunch. The rest of the student body and school staff were generated randomly using a database with lists of physical and mental attributes from characters of games, novels, manga, and anime from my real-life archive, which had now been digitised. Currently, the students are still being evaluated by the staff I picked personally, so I still lack a clear picture of what I have.
