Tharos the Eternal Afterwords 1

Hello, I am the writer of this pulp novel you are reading. I have decided to include an afterword after every few stories to share some thoughts with you, the ten people who read this piece of crap writing. I started writing “Tharos the Eternal” out of boredom and as a way to pass the time. I have found that I really enjoy writing, so what was initially meant to be a one-shot story has now turned into a possible series. I am also currently planning possible sequels and prequels, depending on how this series goes and if I want to keep on writing.

Another reason for writing this and other future projects is that I am not a fan of most media being released today. I decided to take matters into my own hands and create something I would enjoy. A year and a half later, I have the rough drafts of three novellas, which I think is a decent start for an amateur writer like myself. You have to start somewhere, right? I view this series and other things I plan on writing on this website or wherever else I host these random scribbles in the black void which is the internet as practice material for whenever I want to become a proper writer and write proper novels.

It’s quite funny that ever since I started writing this series and have gotten as far as I have currently, a strange thing has happened. I have had people asking me for advice on how to write, which I can’t help but find amusing. Because for the most part, I am still trying to figure things out myself, so any advice I give them, I feel wouldn’t be useful or helpful. For i don’t know myself.

The inspiration for this series was sparked by reading manga such as Red River or Anatolia Story, as well as books like Elric of Melniboné. This led to the creation of the series, which has undergone many revisions and redrafts since its inception. The idea for Tharos was to create a character who embodies a cursed wanderer archetype, blended with the warrior scholar archetype, and aspects of the Byronic hero. I thought it would be interesting to give him psychic powers in a world where magic, wushu-style martial arts, dragons, vampires, and more exist.

Cenric is the sidekick who will eventually become the main character in the sequel, where he embarks on various adventures. Currently, he serves as a plot device and a source of information about the setting, as he is familiar with what the common man in this world knows. The concept for his character at this stage is to provide a contrast to Tharos. While Tharos and Cenric share similarities in terms of personality and temperament, Cenric is fundamentally a compassionate and idealistic individual who wants to help others and make the world a better place, even if it’s in the short term. Also, like many young men navigating the harsh realities of this world, he is unsure of his path. Tharos, on the other hand, is more detached, cynical, and self-centered. He has clear long-term goals and plans that may ultimately benefit many, even though his actions may seem selfish in the short term.

When it comes to Rayner, I thought it would be fun to include someone in the group who is the opposite of both Tharos and Cenric. This would make the dialogue and overall group dynamic more interesting. Plus, who doesn’t like a Viking-style werewolf berserker with maybe a small heart of gold? I do plan to delve into his wider character arc at some point, but that will be for a later time.

Anyway, that’s all I have to say for now. I hope all ten of you who are reading this enjoy the ride. There will be more stuff, and I plan to improve upon it as I go along.

Join in on the travels and adventures of Tharos Narshar, known as "The Dark Hawk." A man who is cursed with immortality and mysterious powers, Tharos is the last scion of a forgotten civilization swallowed by time and myth. Across the war-torn continent of Aria, Tharos and his unlikely band of ragtag companions will confront warlords, slay monstrous beasts, uncover lost magics and technologies, and brave the ruins of empires long lost and dead. Yet beneath every clash of steel and flicker of sorcery lies a deeper quest: to reclaim his lost mortality—or to discover, in the abyss of endless time, a reason to keep living. For what becomes of a man who cannot die but cannot truly live? Quick Writer's Note: The content I post here is essentially the first draft of my stories. Therefore, the chapters posted are subject to changes or improvements based on feedback I receive from proofreaders. This is my first attempt at proper storytelling, and I am doing this for fun and practice. Also, these stories are going to be in novelette/novella format, so if you're expecting a full-length novel, you won't find it here.
